The National Lime and Stone Company – Healthy Habits Challenge


Challenge yourself to form healthy habits that will last a lifetime and you can be healthy for good!

healthy body + healthy mind = healthy life!

Research suggests that it takes approximately 66 days to form a habit. So, for the next 10 weeks you and your team will work to form healthy habits by completing a variety of healthy tasks each day.  The more tasks you complete the more points you earn.

The tasks you will be asked to complete EVERY WEEK are:

  • Let’s Get Moving- Meeting Exercise Requirements
    • Complete at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity at least 5 days per week or at least 25 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity 3 days per week.
    • Earn 30 points if the week is completed.
  • Quiet Time- Working on Relaxation
    • Complete 10 minutes of quiet time per day. Quiet time consists of minimal noise- no TV, music, smartphones or other tech devices.
    • Earn 5 points each day the task is completed.
  • Go for the H2O- Staying Hydrated
    • Drink 20 ounces of water BEFORE you consume any other beverage for the day.
    • Earn 5 points each day the task is completed.
  • Healthy Start- Eating a Satisfying and Healthy Breakfast
    • Eat a healthy breakfast- low sugar, high soluble fiber, high protein and low calorie.
    • Earn 5 points each day that the task is completed.
  • Bonus: Fruit Group-Meeting Daily Recommend Amounts
    • Eat the daily recommended amount of fruit (2 cups) per day.
    • Earn 1 point each day that the task is completed.

Challenge Guidelines

  • Teams must consist of 4 members, 3 of which must be current NLS employees.
  • The final member can be a family member.
  • Then select a team captain.  The team captain should notify the HR Department of your team name and team members by Friday, March 15.
  • Challenge starts Sunday, March 17

Each week you will be asked to fill out a log sheet showing the points that you earned.  Those logs sheets should be submitted to your team captain at the beginning of the following week.  The team captain will then turn in the logs sheets to the HR department.

*If your log sheet is turned into the HR Department by Wednesday of the following week, your name will be entered into a drawing for a prize*

At the end of the 10 weeks the winners will be announced.  The individual who scores the most points throughout the 10 weeks (regardless of how their team does) will be rewarded with the option of a Fitbit or a pair of running shoes! The team who scores the most points will receive a bonus of $100 in their flex reimbursement account! The team coming in second place will receive a bonus of $50 in their flex reimbursement account!
